Queer Community

I'm Tired of Explaining Myself!

A lot of queer people are tired. Not just because life is hard, but because life is hard in ways that often need extra explaining.

To family. To partners. To workplaces. To therapists. To the wider world. Sometimes even to your own community. There is a particular exhaustion that comes from constantly scanning for whether you are actually safe here, or just being politely tolerated.

Front and Centre

Sometimes queer clients come in with identity stuff front and centre. Sometimes the issue is anxiety, relationship conflict, family pain, work stress, or burnout. But the queer lens matters.

Because living in a world that likes things neat, binary, and easy to categorise has an impact. Being misunderstood has an impact. Having to read between the lines to figure out whether a space is actually for you has an impact.

Underneath that, there can be trauma. Family rejection. Bullying. Not fitting in. Growing up in a hetero world that did not have room for you.

Nature

I get that many queer people don't want another therapist who says “I’m an ally” and then proceeds to make you do all the work.

That is not what I’m offering. I’m part of this community myself. That matters. Not because we’re all the same, but because it means less translation, less explaining, and more room to get into the actual work.

The work here is often about connection. To self, to others, to belonging, to a life that feels like yours. It’s about not needing to become more understandable to everyone else. It’s about figuring out who the fuck you are at the speed that’s right for you, not the speed the world demands.

Book a free introductory call

If you’re considering therapy with me, the next step is to book a free introductory call.

This call is a no-pressure way of getting to know each other a little. You can ask questions, get a feel for how I work, and see whether we are a good fit for each other. Therapy is a relationship, and fit matters.
