Home Visits
The first benefit of having therapy in your own home is admittedly a little boring… It's just 'accessibility'.
This purely logistic benefit came to my mind when I was in my final placement, and I had a client who did their sessions over the phone, because they lived far from the clinic, didn't drive, and had significant social and logistical anxieties, which made physically getting to the clinic a huge hurdle.
Whilst phone counselling can be helpful, for my particular approach, which relies on tracking the body's posture, breath, and movement, being in the same physical space makes a profound difference.
Stigma
Similarly, but much more importantly than the simple logistics of transport, for some people, stigma can still be a big barrier to accessing therapy.
Being seen walking into an obviously labelled psychology clinic may not be an option for them for whatever reason. However, seeing me, a woman in plain clothes entering their home, I could be the cleaner, I could be a dog groomer, I could be a friend or family member.
And that is exactly how I will portray myself if ever I should bump into a client if they are with someone else. Always following their lead, if they introduce me at all, I will not give away any details of our connection, only be polite and generally exit the situation as quickly as possible.
No stigma or relationship should stop anyone from accessing the support they need to live a full and rich life.
The Third Benefit
The regulating effect of not having to commute through traffic or be out in the world in order to navigate to me. Life is challenging enough without adding stress to access services.
If you're seeking therapy, chances are you're already dealing with symptoms of anxiety, overwhelm, burnout, or depression.
If this is you, leaving the house might be the hardest part of the day. The shower, the front door, the walk to the car, it all takes energy you may not have, or there’s simply better things to spend it on! Home visits remove that barrier entirely. You don't have to get well enough to show up to me. I show up to you.
My goal is to remove the friction between you and getting the help you need. Which is why I offer home visits as a service. I get the benefit of changing environment and driving, to decompress from the previous client, and you get the benefit of being in your own space.

Book a free introductory call
If you’re considering therapy with me, the next step is to book a free introductory call.
This call is a no-pressure way of getting to know each other a little. You can ask questions, get a feel for how I work, and see whether we are a good fit for each other. Therapy is a relationship, and fit matters.
